Table Centralizing Media Studio
Build and Bloom started off from a class wide research project for place making to understand what promotes human health in public spaces. Then, an intervention was made to one of the spaces in order to make it healthier. To expand our research to public spaces in general, a “healthiness” framework was developed and made into a toolkit.
The Problem
The Media Studio had low visibility and high barrier to entry
Equipment checkout was a burden for staff
The Value Provided
Alignment with organizational strategic priorities: enabling creative freedom, equipment security
Streamlining process flow

Simplified User Interface
From our research we knew that the Media Studio was heavily used for podcasting, so we wanted to design a space for the podcasting deck.
Through grouping the microphone and headphone cables as a set, and only passing through the ones the users need to the outside of the table, we sought to reduce cognitive load.
